Art Medicine for Healing and Transformation

As an artist, I did not follow the natural passion in my heart with a path of creativity at first. Initially refusing my dream out of fear and “practicality”. Listening to the world and the echoes of the messages of starving artists, you can’t make a living as an artist, artists are crazy and eccentric…So I didn’t quit my day job. In fact I worked all sorts of jobs, grateful for the prosperity they provided.Yet the whispering in my soul still yearned for creativity and art.

The problem with refusal of the heart’s calling, is there is a yearning for purpose and soul expression that never really goes away. The pain of unfulfilled dreams became too much. So, I brought art back into my life as a hobby. I began making sculptural pieces like masks and dream fetch dolls, mixed media boxes, jewelry and painting. I would not say I had natural talent in the way of being able to paint or create with outside eyes, replicating what I saw. But I discovered inside eyes, and painting from the view of my authentic self. Along the way I entered pieces into art shows and displayed them in cafes. I danced around my dream, keeping my corporate job, raising a family.

There were mentors, friends and teachers along the way that helped me to not lose sight of my dream. One of the teachers that impacted my journey and changed the trajectory of my life was Shiloh Sophia and the lineage of Intentional Creativity. It was through these teachings that I was able to rewrite my own story, access my own true information and finally claim myself as an artist. The other teacher who impacted me on this journey is Robert Moss, who has helped me learn how to channel dreaming into my art and life and to become a dream ambassador to the world, helping to bring dreaming back into our culture.

Now I support and guide people in art experiences to help them discover their own authentic selves, and to feel empowered to make changes in their lives and create the reality they desire and to follow their big dreams through creativity, art and dreaming. I am now a part of bringing creativity out of hiding for many, especially women, who have felt that they are not blessed with talent or creative abilities. Through this changing of the paradigm of how art is perceived and experienced in the world is to be reminded, and to remind others that they matter, that their art and dreams matter. To witness one another being healed by the practice of creativity is a gift and if you are reading this right now, this is your gift too. You matter.

How Can Art Medicine Help?

Intentional Creativity is a way of living by bringing life force energy to the body of work that is our lives, and infusing this energy and love into everything we do. In Intentional Creativity we use creativity to heal, tell and rewrite our stories, move energy through our bodies onto the canvas through painting as we heal from trauma, engage in self discovery and expression. It is healing Art Medicine. We work only with what is ready to be worked with or moved through, keeping the edge of the canvas as the limit to what rises up and is released.Read more
