Muse Box-Ignite your Creativity!
Interactive crafts tutorial for a whimsical mixed media decorative box and a set of creativity oracle cards that include dares, prompts and affirmations to help ignite and inspire the Muse!
Materials list:

A small wooden or cardboard box with a lid

Decoupage medium like Mod Podge

Old card for smoothing

Ephemera and photos from magazines, old books, stickers, etc.

Ribbon, trim, embellishments- use your imagination. Paper flowers, buttons, small trinkets and toys, etc.

Acrylic paint and paint pens, permanent markers.

Paint brushes
-
Glitter or other optional embellishments you would like

Postcard sized watercolor paper, or watercolor paper that can be torn into card sized pieces

Scissors

Be creative and include anything that lights up your Muse!
The Muse loves to be wooed and nurtured as the adventurous, whimsical, daring, sometimes even downright sassy soul expression that she is! My Muse loves to go on dates! Taking her to an art gallery or museum, out into nature where she can really soak up the beauty of the ultimate artist Mother Nature, or even getting pampered with a spa day and some new clothes, she thrives with that attention and intention. And by Muse, I am not referring to some outside being or source of creative inspiration, but the very real and accessible source of creativity within ourselves. When the Muse is inspired creative ideas and practice flow with ease. But as with most things in nature and in life, this creative inspiration may ebb and flow. Maybe you are always inspired! Even if creative inspiration is a constant for you, it can be fun to mix it up!
Today’s session is a gift to your Muse! We will be making a whimsical decorated box and a few prompts, dares and affirmations to keep our Muse feeling cared for and challenged!

First, sand box and paint a base coat of gesso, then paint.

Decoupage scrapbook paper onto the box.

Watercolor paper postcards. Paint watercolor base color, let dry, then decoupage scrapbook paper designs.

Write in affirmations, dares and prompts onto the cards with waterproof ink.

Optional: gold leaf the inside of the box.
